KNN College of Nursing, located in Yelahanka, Bangalore, was conceived with the idea of providing quality and affordable healthcare to ordinary citizens and improve the education standards of the country. The Institute has gained national repute and is considered one of the best with regard to placements. A primary factor that has influenced this success is the innovation that has been put in place with regard to training and placements. Unlike other conventional approaches, the Institute has a strong focus on training and development of the nurses in order to meet the current standards of healthcare as well as in fulfilling the personal passions of the students.
The Institute has tie-ups with several hospitals, especially corporate hospitals, for training as well as placements. The highlight of the concept is the exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with Columbia-Asia Hospitals, one of the leading chains of high-end super-specialty corporate hospitals in South-Asia having 16 chains in India, Vietnam, Malaysia and Kuala-Lampur. The chain of hospitals has started on expansion plans that will involve setting up of 26 more super-specialty hospitals. This MoU ensures that Columbia-Asia trains and recruits the graduates of KNN College for its hospital requirements and in return requires KNN College to ensure the academic and soft-skills training of the students, thus giving rise to a wholesome development of the student. This arrangement has worked successfully for several graduates from KNN College since four years now. The work experience garnered in Columbia-Asia is popularly understood to be a stepping-stone for recruitment in foreign hospitals as well, because the training imparted here is known to be of the highest class.
The Institute also has another exclusive tie-up with Healthcare-Global (HCG) which has a very well established chain of hospitals specialized in Oncology in Bangalore as well as outside. Here, the focus is on giving students exposure to specialized disciplines and in working with a serious and well-trained environment. There are several camps organized regularly by the Institute specifically to provide free healthcare to communities with lesser access to healthcare. Community Nursing and Healthcare is also given added focus, and the fact that the Society of Community Health Nurses of India has its registered office at KNN College is testimony to this effect. Students are provided with extensive training in the leading government hospitals as well with a view to impart more in-depth training and in giving more variety in exposure.
Careful steps are taken by the Institute every step of the way to make sure that the focus on training is not diluted even while not ignoring the specific academic needs of the students. KNN Nursing College has a total strength of more than 550 students and has provisions for all available nursing courses, B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing in all the critical fields, G.N.M Nursing and P.C.B.Sc. The campus is located in a prime property in New Town Yelahanka and provides accommodation and mess facilities specifically tuned to suit the interests of students from Kerala.
